heartfirst is a diy hardcore punk label that releases bands from all over the world. it is located in munich, germany. the label has been going since 1990 and was an extension of doing a fanzine, running a record distribution since 1985, and going on tour with bands in the late 1980s and early 1990s. just like the main reason of the distro was to get cheap records for myself and my friends, the label exists primarily to release records with my friend's bands and have a good time doing it. the label started out in berlin but had to temporarily relocate to munich, an officially dead city when it comes to punk counterculture (especially compared to berlin). most of the releases are on 7" vinyl because that is the true punk music format. style-wise we are not following the latest trends but are dedicated to working with our friends' bands from various parts of the world that have a root in old style hardcore punk musically and attitude-wise. almost all heartfirst releases have been debut releases because bands have the most energy and passion when they are starting up. we are not into putting out lps and getting bigger. heartfirst-bands have later released records on labels like alternative tentacles,  better youth organization, revelation, bacteria sour and sound pollution (just to name a few).

in 2006 a new sublabel was started: norwegian leather. it is dedicated to re-releasing classic norwegian punk records. more info can be found here.
